An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Assistant Psychologist at the Rutland Centre. The role is established within the service and provides the opportunity to be supervised by a clinical & counseling psychologist and to work within a multidisciplinary setting. The service offers the opportunity to work with individuals in recovery from addictions and mental health issues. The role will be assessment driven, with some opportunity to work therapeutically (depending on level of experience) under supervision. There will also be clinical audit and service evaluation responsibilities within the role.

Responsibilities:

The duties of the Assistant Psychologist, under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist include:

  • Baseline assessment of clinical indicators including mood, substance and general outcome indicators.
  • Pre and post residential, outpatient and continuing care programme evaluation.
  • Conducting semi-structured intake interviews.
  • Administering and scoring personality and cognitive assessments
  • External communications with GP’s on completion of programme.
  • Attendance at weekly clinical supervision with Senior Clinical & Counselling Psychologist.
  • Participate in clinical review meetings and case discussion.
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate psychoeducational lectures as part of the residential programme.

Essential Criteria:

Minimum of upper second class honours degree in Psychology

Eligible for Graduate Membership of the Psychological Association of Ireland

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organisational skills and ability to work both independently and under supervision

Desirable Criteria:

  • Completed or about to complete a master’s degree in Psychology
  • Previous experience working with clinical populations
  • Previous research experience
