Initially you will come in and meet one of the Counsellors on our Assessment Team. They are all highly trained in addiction issues. If you are coming for assessment, you must bring a partner, family member or friend with you both for support and as a valuable source of information about the problem. This meeting will consider whether you would benefit from our treatment programme and we will discuss with you what needs to happen prior to admission. The interview usually takes 60-90mins and the cost of assessment is €150 payable on the day (this is not covered by your health insurer).
If you are accepted for our residential treatment programme you may be asked to join our pre-admissions group which meets once a week for 2 hours or your admission may follow within 72 hours of your assessment. If you join the pre-admissions group, you may remain with this group for approximately one week before your admission, depending on your progress. This gives us an opportunity to learn more about you and your needs. In this group, you will be introduced to the in-patient programme (and to group work), meet our staff and meet others waiting for admission.
As a drug free Centre we do not prescribe drugs during treatment because of their potentially addictive properties. We will ask you to stop using alcohol and drugs for at least five days before admission.
Prior to admission, we may recommend a period of detox in a hospital. We do not offer this service but we can refer you elsewhere.
