Clinical Team

Rutland Centre has one of the most experienced clinical teams in addiction in Ireland. They have a wealth of knowledge and training and have worked with hundreds of people supporting them and their families to heal, change and grow.

Eileen Canny: Senior Residential Addiction Counsellor

Eileen qualified as an analytic psychotherapist in the UK in the 1990′s. She trained in management and was manager in 3 treatment centres before joining the Clinical Team at Rutland Centre. She completed further training in body-oriented psychotherapy and is a qualified focusing trainer. She has also expertise and training in stress management, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Couple Counselling. She is a member of I.A.C.P and I.A.A.A.C. Eileen is a Senior Addiction counsellor and works primarily on the Residential Programme at Rutland Centre.

Mary O’Connor: Senior Residential Addiction Counsellor

Mary is a Senior Addiction Counsellor and Psychotherapist, accredited with the I.A.H.I.P in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy. She worked in private practice for some years before joining Rutland Centre in 2001. Mary trained in the National Centre for Eating Disorders, London, in the Assessment and Treatment of Eating Disorders. She specialises in this work at Rutland Centre and is highly experienced in group and individual therapy. Her interests include the practice of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Mary Lacey: Senior Assessment Addiction Counsellor

Mary holds an undergraduate degree in Social Science, a Diploma in Addiction Studies, and a Diploma in Counselling from Trinity College Dublin. Mary Lacey is accredited with I.A.C.P and is a highly experienced Senior Addiction Counsellor with training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Reality Therapy. She works primarily in the Assessment Department and her particular interests include Nicotine Addiction and Creative Therapies, including Art Therapy.

Ann Morrin: Senior Residential Addiction Counsellor

Ann is a fully Accredited member of the I.A.A.A.C and I.A.C.P who has been working with Rutland Centre since 1998. Ann holds Diploma’s in Integrative Body Work, Gestalt Therapy and Counselling and has trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is highly experienced in group and individual therapy and has a particular interest in the areas of Alcohol Addiction, Co-Dependency & The Family, and Suicide Prevention.

Declan Murray: Addiction Counsellor (Assessment and Residential)

Declan has been working with Rutland Centre since 2006. He is a fully qualified and accredited Addiction Counsellor with I.A.A.A.C. Declan is a very experienced group therapist both on the residential programme and outpatient programme. He currently works in the Assessment Team and has a keen interest in Relapse Prevention and Family Support. His approach includes a client centred focus with motivational interviewing.

Ann O’Duffy: Senior Residential Addiction Counsellor

Ann is a highly experienced Humanistic Psychotherapist and Senior Addiction Counsellor and has been working with Rutland Centre for the past 18 years. She is an accredited supervisor and member of IAHIP and EAP. Areas of expertise include Trauma, Sexual Abuse and Addiction. She has an interest in Attachment theory, working with families impacted by addiction, Individual and Group Therapy.

Ultan Coogan: Senior Residential Addiction Counsellor

Ultan is a Senior Addiction Counsellor with many years experice in group and individual therapy. He has worked with Rutland Centre since 2001. He is Accredited with I.A.A.A.C and completed a Diploma in Addiction Studies & Counselling with Hazelden in 2000. He has completed additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. His particular areas of interest include Compulsive Gambling, Mindfulness, and Adult Children of Alcoholics.

Patricia Nannery: Continuing Care Addiction Counsellor

Patricia holds a M.Sc. in Clinical Supervision from Trinity College Dublin, and a Diploma in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy. She is an Accredited Member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (M.I.A.H.I.P). Patricia is a very experienced group and individual psychotherapist and has been working with Rutland Centre since 2007. She works primarily in the Continuing Care Programme and also on the General Outpatient Programme. Patricia has an interest in family systems and in clinical supervision.
